For all people who care about people.
If you’re a leader, doula, caregiver, healer, parent, social-change agent or other person who cares… I care about you.
Bring an challenge, question, symptom, challenge, or dream, and we’ll follow the message that is coming through it.
During sessions, we’ll practice practical and playful tools for increasing insight and self-awareness, navigating the edge of fear, listening to your body, fostering creativity, challenging inner criticism, and acting on your values even when it rubs against social norms. These are tools that will support you in the challenge you are facing now AND will benefit you for years to come.
While my website and background has a focus on parents, I sincerely love working with people in all kinds of transitions and challenges - not just parents. My approach is highly adaptable.
My fee is $150 per 50-minute session, held on Zoom. New clients typically start with three meetings a month, which gives us momentum while allowing time off for vacations and rest periods.
Go ahead and book a first call or send me a message, because I’ll never pressure if it isn’t the right fit.
Hi there, I’m Lee
Go beyond your thinking mind. My approach helps people break out of endless thought loops. I will teach you to tap into the messages in your body, your dreaming mind, and your sense of the world around you to make decisions and take action.
UnShaming is the name of the game. Much traditional “self-help” is “self-doubt” in disguise, and our current society is riddled with judgement, blame, and '“you’re never enough”. We’ll seize your desire for growth, without using it to berate yourself.
I’m a doula at heart. Whether we are talking about parenting or about life: I bring the doula spirit that says “trust yourself, and trust what is happening”. My expertise is in witnessing your experience with deep compassion, gentle curiosity, and a radical belief in the magic of who you are.
I embrace big questions and paradoxes. I love a juicy contradiction and revel in the nuances of humans. If you think you’re too weird, inconsistent or complicated to do what you want, I’m not worried :)
Even with ^^, I’m a pretty practical person. We won’t be abstract analyzing or philosophizing: We’re going to dig in to your experience and get some things done. When we remove the internal obstacles, change can happen far more easily.
I often come across as extremely earnest in writing. I am. I am also really playful, goofy, and irreverent at times.
If you’re like a lot of people …
*You want to live thoughtfully, and on your terms, not according to the “shoulds” of the world that don’t line up with what is actually care about.
*You spend more time than you’d like weighing pros/cons of decisions or going down google rabbit holes. Sometimes you secretly you wish someone else would just tell you the answer.
* You’re feeling disconnection or “meh” about your job, even if it is meaningful in some ways. Maybe it even used to be your “dream job” and it is losing its luster. You’re not sure what to do next.
* You want to take more of a break but when you look at the calendar, you get a sinking realization there’s no time to schedule in a real vacation.
* You’d tell a friend in your situation to knock it off with the self-doubt, imposter syndrome, or lack of confidence, but you can’t seem to shake your own.
* You feel overwhelmed when you look at the news, your calendar, or your to-do list. Sometimes simple things seem stupidly hard.
You’d like to be more present to your life so you can do what matters, more easily.
I help people who want support to do that, instead of going alone.
When you follow the innate wisdom within you…
Not rushed, forced or pressured
Listening deeply to yourself and your body
Not made to feel wrong or broken
In touch with a deeper sense of power and energy
More able to stand up to criticism and doubt
Finding some humor and value even in the gnarly bits
…beautiful things spring out of the greatest difficulties.
UnShaming led me to playful joy and deeper confidence I didn’t know I could have.
UnShaming is the name of a body of work created by David Bedrick, JD, Dipl. PW. I could geek out about it if we had a while, but for now you can explore UnShaming here and here.
I am not someone who idolizes people and tend to be wary of putting people on pedestals, so it feels a little vulnerable to be truthful about how excited I am about learning from David.
I have more than ten years of experience supporting people 1:1 through challenges and transitions. In addition to my doula credentials I have completed two other professional coach trainings. Nothing has quite compared to the paradigm-shifting experience of working with UnShaming and Processwork.
I am thrilled to be pursing a Certificate in Process-Oriented Facilitation with David to add to my existing skillset. Unshaming brings warm, loving, curious attention to the spots you feel most challenged. We explore threads of energy through imagination, movement, somatics and dialog.
UnShaming uncovers what is already trying to happen and shines light on gifts and strengths that have been hidden by shame and internalized oppression.
This work changed my life.
A few years ago, you would have found me outwardly successful: I had my dream job as a birth and postpartum doula, a loving partner, and activism pursuits that fed me.
But on the inside I often felt twisted up, despairing, torn, and frequently exhausted by cycles of self-doubt.
Bodywork, coaching, therapy, diet changes, the wisdom of time… all helped a bit at points. I gained insight and skills. But secretly, I often felt like there was something wrong with me, that I was too tired, too hesitating, too weird, and too idealistic.
Studying and practicing UnShaming is when I started truly connecting with myself, and multiple areas of my life transformed. Without this work, I wouldn’t be able to show up as open, curious, playful and vulnerable as I can now. I also wouldn’t have the richer sense of compassion that (usually!) holds me even when I make mistakes, feel small, get caught in loops, and can’t do what I think I want to do.
Unshaming opened many of the doors along the way for me, and I integrate the Unshaming perspective into my work, whether we are talking about parenting, work, or other issues. I would love to offer the same life-affirming experience I’ve had with UnShaming to you.
Our world is full of forces would prefer for you to be quiet, “normal”, constrained, and doubting. But, you can find more room to move.
Speak more truthfully about what you want and don’t want, even when it might upset others.
Find a thread of ease during swirls of uncertainty … without ignoring your fears.
Tell the “you can’t do that” voice in you to back off for a while so you can experiment, play and be more free.
Connect more intimately with others, while holding on to your own views.
Find what you’re really looking for in your cravings or procrastinations (and I promise it isn’t just “self-soothing”).
Get in touch with your body’s wise messages - even within aches and illnesses.
Strengthen connection to deeper power to peel back layers of internalized sexism, racism, homophobia, and colonized worldviews to be more free.
Take brave, but easier, steps forward on what is yours to do…. and also be more loving and curious about your true experience when you DON’T take the steps you think you should.
